Apa Itu “Mirin”

Mirin adalah sejenis bahan perasa penting didalam makanan jepun.

Mengandungi 40-50% gula.

Ia adalah sejenis wine beras/rice wine yang hampir menyamai sake (sejenis arak beras jepun), tetapi mempunyai kandungan alkohol yang kurang sedikit iaitu 14%.

Pada zaman dahulu Mirin digunakan sebagai minuman pemabuk (sweet sake).

Mirin digunakan dengan memercikkan sedikit kepada ikan yang di bakar atau untuk menghilangkan bau hanyir ikan.

Amaun yang sedikit digunakan bersama gula dan kicap soya.

Ia tidak digunakan dengan berlebihan ini adalh kerana rasanya yang kuat.

Kadang-kadang ia digunakan sebagai pelengkap/perisa sushi.

Mirin selalunya digunakan didalam pembuatan teriyaki sauce.
